Call for papers (PDF)

All papers as well as session proposals must be submitted electronically through PaperPlaza. In accordance with IEEE requirements, only PDF files will be accepted. In addition to regular papers, the 45th CDC will also have invited sessions, industry focussed tutorial sessions, interactive sessions with practical demonstrations. Please contact chairs for corresponding areas of Technical Program for further information. Please note that the conference language is English, all submissions must be written in English. (Rick Middleton, Program Chair)

Regular Papers:

Papers are invited in the form of regular manuscripts (allotted 6 Proceedings pages). Note that short manuscripts are not considered. Papers must be submitted through the conference submission website (PaperPlaza) and must conform to the submission policy requiring that all manuscripts be in 2-column format and meet strict page limits. For the purpose of review only, manuscripts may be up to eight (8) pages long. However, normal length for the final manuscript is limited to six (6) pages. Papers exceeding the normal length may be submitted upon payment of overlength page charges of USD 175.00 for each page in excess of six. A maximum of two extra pages above normal six are permitted for regular papers, invited session papers and interactive session papers. (Thomas Parisini, Chair: Conference Editorial Board)

Invited Sessions:

Proposals are sought from those wishing to organize an invited session. An invited session consists of six papers, which should present a unifying theme from a diversity of viewpoints. Proposals for invited sessions are submitted through the conference submission website (PaperPlaza), and must contain a Summary Statement describing the motivation and relevance of the proposed session, accompanied by FULL versions of each invited paper.

Invited papers are allotted 6 Proceedings pages, and must conform to the CDC submission policy; ABSTRACTS of invited papers will NOT be accepted. Please note that each paper in a proposed invited session will be individually reviewed, and that the proposed invited session itself will also be rated as a whole.

To ensure the continuity of the program and that papers addressing similar issues are grouped together, at the discretion of the Program Committee, individual papers may be removed from a proposed session and replaced by appropriate contributed papers. Likewise, selected papers from rejected invited sessions may be placed into the regular program. (Iven Mareels, Vice-Chair: Invited Sessions)

Invited Interactive Sessions:

The 45th CDC will introduce a new invited session category: "Invited Interactive Sessions." In addition to regular invited sessions, proposals are sought from those wishing to organize an "invited interactive session." An invited interactive session will consist of between ten (10) to fifteen (15) papers, which should present a unifying theme from a diversity of viewpoints. The arrangements and rules governing Invited Interactive sessions are the similar to regular invited sessions, with the following notes: As with regular invited sessions, all papers will be reviewed, and appear in the proceedings. Presentations will be interactive (i.e. poster, plus preferably some sort of simulation or software demonstration). In addition, at the start of a session the organizers will make an overview presentation lasting 15-20 minutes.

The sessions can contain up to 15 presentations (this leaves much more flexibility than requiring exactly 6 presentations to fit the timing requirements of oral sessions). Each Invited Interactive Session accepted will have a room devoted to the session, including data projection for the overview. The deadline for submissions for invited interactive sessions will be later than for regular submission and is set to March 17, 2006.

Invited interactive papers are allotted 6 Proceedings pages, and must conform to the CDC submission policy; ABSTRACTS of invited papers will NOT be accepted. Please note that each paper in a proposed invited interactive session will be individually reviewed, and that the proposed invited session itself will also be rated as a whole. (Ilya Kolmanovsky, Vice-Chair: Invited Interactive Sessions)

Tutorial Sessions - Industry and Applications:

The 45th CDC will include Tutorial Sessions featuring a one-hour tutorial presentation on an industrially-proven but still relatively new technique, followed by a series of short presentations from industrial participants discussing the implementation, application, and benefits of the technique. In this context, industry includes military, civil, and other practitioners who apply control engineering as a tool in the ôreal world", and who can relate to the issues that face routine applications such as personnel training, compatibility with maintenance practices, impact on ISO standards, etc. A manuscript that will be allocated 15 pages in the book of proceedings will accompany the one-hour tutorial presentation. (Doug Lawrence, Vice-Chair: Industry and Applications)

Demonstration Sessions:

Demonstration Sessions are organized about a specific theme with invited authors. Papers/posters in a demonstration session present a cohesive and comprehensive focus on a relevant topic. The demonstration session submission includes a session summary and may include up to 6 papers/posters about a specific theme. Topics for the demonstration sessions may be selected specifically to allow more time for interaction and discussion that are not available in a time-limited oral/lecture session. The authors are encouraged to make creative use of poster boards as well as hands-on computer simulations and demonstrations. (Sam Ge, Vice-Chair: Interactive Sessions)
