If, for any reason, you still cannot get the visa for entry into China by all the above suggested means, please turn to help of the local organizer of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. If so, an application form and the photocopy of your passport are needed for the application. Fill out the form, and then e-mail it together with the passport photocopy to Joy who is in charge of visa application at ijscip@sjtu.edu.cn before Oct.15, 2009.

The base of the Oriental Pearl Radio Tower is seen behind the Shanghai International Convention Center with its multi-story globes on either end. The Convention Center will provide meeting rooms, exhibition space, facilities for large lectures, and a five star hotel as well. Located near the Lu Jia Zui metro stop and directly across the river from the Bund, the Convention Center is the ideal combination of a place to work and a point-of-departure for touring the many sights of Shanghai.

The two primary conference hotels are the Oriental Riverside and the Pudong Shangri-La. The Oriental Riverside Hotel resides within the same structure as the Shanghai International Convention Center (SHICC), and the Shangri-La is a short two blocks away. Both properties are five star hotels, and the amenities are what one expects from the great hotels of the world.

›› Pudong Shangri-La Hotel

Group Room rates are RMB1550, single occupancy, per night for deluxe rooms in the River Wing of the Pudong Shangri-La. This includes a 15% surcharge (occupancy tax), and also includes an American style buffet breakfast in the elegant Yi Cafe. Additional hotel information can be found on the hotel web site (see also below).

Instructions for booking the Pudong Shangri-La:

1. Go to the Shangri-La website (or the window below).
2. Select the appropriate hotel and enter all the necessary stay requirements like check-in date, check-out date, number of rooms, adults and children.
3. Under the "Special Rate" area, select "Group Code" and enter the Group Code "IEE131209".
4. Click the Check Availability button to continue.
5. If all the search criteria are correct and rooms are still available for the group, the group rate will be returned in the availability search result. Simply follow the on-screen instructions to complete the online booking.
