    AMIC (Automotive Multimedia Interface Consortium)
AMIC is the name of a consortium of 5 car manufacturers: General Motors, Ford, DaimlerChrysler, Toyota, Renault dedicated to the definition and standardization of exchange and use of multimedia information aboard automotive vehicles.Other car manufacturers are in the process of joining the consortium. The aim is to bring multimedia auto electronics into unprecedented global compatibility.

Demonstration of energy saving in vehicles by integrating an infinitely variable transmission with an optimised petrol engine
To demonstrate the actual fuel savings achieved by cars light vans in service using an innovative integrated driveline consisting of a traction drive Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT) integrated with an optimised petrol engine.

    Esprit Projet MODISTARC
The main goal is to support the effort of the European car industry towards the development and standardisation of networking architectures.

European Hybrid Technology Development Approaching Efficient Zero Emission Mobility
General Information: It is proposed to develop and to validate design and evaluation tools for advanced hybrid vehicles in terms of their effects on emissions and fuel consumption.

French Project AEE (Architecture électronique embarquée)
This is a French project with Renault, Peugeot and several companies aiming at the design and validation of a fast method for the definition and development of electronic and software architecture.

German Project OSEK/VDX (English "Open Systems and the Corresponding Interfaces for Automotive Electronics")
Joint project in the German automotive industry aiming at an industry standard for an open-ended architecture for distributed control units in vehicles.

Project ATT-ALERT: (Advanced Transport Telematics - Advice and Problem Location for European Road Traffic)
The overall objectives of ATT-ALERT are to promote and standardise the current ALERT protocol, and to enhance its capabilities in providing a comprehensive driver information service.

Project CITIES: (Cooperation for Integrated Traffic management and Information Exchange Systems)
The objectives of the project are to solve the many traffic problems encountered in and around three important European cities by a close collaboration and the use of new ATT- technologies as developed in the frame of the DRIVE programmme.

Project DRIVE: (Advanced Development of Next Centurys Integrated Powertrain Control Systems)
Subject Index Codes: Electronics, Microelectronics; Information Processing, Information Systems.

Project Integration and control aspects of vehicles with continuously variable transmissions
The work will be an integrated study on dynamic aspects of a vehicle powertrain.

Project SAVE: (System for Effective Assessment of Driver State and Vehicle Control in Emergency Situations)
SAVE will develop an integrated system to monitor the condition of drivers and undertake emergency handling prior to and during emergency situations (e.g. drunk-driving, fatigue).

TOOLSYS (Open Toolset for Mixed Simulation of Multidomain Systems)
is a Brite-Euram project (BE 3249) started in February 97 with a duration of 36 months. The objective is the development of a multidisciplinary environment for modeling and simulation of multi-domain systems. It is based on the use of the VHDL-AMS language to exchange models between different simulation tools. The consortium includes car manufacturers and automotive suppliers, research centers, software companies.

    US project FLEETS ENERGY
This is a JOULE sponsored project to develop a vehicle mission simulation tool for thermal, electric and hybrid vehicles.

US project PATH: Hybrid System Control
The goal of this research is to design intelligent, hierarchical controllers in the context of Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS).
