Mission Statement:

There has been an increasing research activity on networks within the CSS community. The rapid pace of innovation in the areas of systems control, computation, and communication is leading the way for a new class of networked systems, characterized by their complex interconnections, diversity of components, and interactions with the physical world. Research at the interplay between networks, communication and systems control is not confined to study communication networks only, but extends to a broad area, including other technological networks such as transportation and energy networks; social, economic, and financial networks; and biological networks.

The IEEE Technical Committee on Networks and Communication Systems aims to promote communication among researchers active in the area of networks. It provides a forum to discuss new research directions on modeling, analysis, optimization and control of emerging networks, both with social and technological aspects. It allows members to coordinate activities, including the organization of new workshops and several invited sessions on networks in ACC and CDC. Another important objective is to increase CSS publications that could provide a visible outlet for high-quality research in this area.

This Technical Committee currently has about 80 members (including around 20 members of the students and postdocs group). It is organized into eight working groups.

Articles describing some activities of our technical committee appeared in the May 2016 and August 2018 issues of IEEE Control Systems Magazine.
